JavaScript purchased by Austrian government.

Brendan Eich, the developer of JavaScript, has confirmed that he has sold the JavaScript rights to the Austrian government.
The move surprised the technology world because JavaScript is one of the most used languages on the web.
Eich stated in a statement that he was “weary of politics and haters” and wanted to “concentrate on other things, like spending a long holiday in the Alps.”

This is not the first time a government has purchased a programming language. Python’s rights were purchased by the Bolivia from its founder, Guido van Rossum, in 2016.
