ISLAMABAD: A report containing details of agricultural loans given to farmers at the district level has been presented to the parliament. According to the report, farmers of Jhang District received maximum agricultural loans, while the farmers of the Gwadar and Kech districts received the least loans in the last financial year. It was mentioned in the report that the federal government led by the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) provided less agriculture loans of Rs 100,000 each to the growers of Gwadar and Kech districts compared to the growers of other districts of the country. In contrast to Gwadar and Kech districts of Balochistan, farmers in the Jhang District of Punjab received agriculture loans of Rs 6.810 billion last year. In Sindh, the Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited (ZTBL) gave agriculture loans worth Rs 2.300 billion to farmers of Khairpur District. The other district of Sindh like Ghotki and Sanghar received loans worth Rs 1.390 billion and Rs 1.2 billion, respectively, from the ZTBL. In Punjab, Bahawalnagar District received loans worth Rs 6.100 billion. Farmers of Sheikhupura District got Rs 1.860 billion loans, Nankana Sahib Rs 1.100 billion loans and farmers of Vehari District Rs 2.770 billion loans. In the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, farmers in Mardan District received Rs 920 million agricultural loans, farmers in Swabi District received Rs 380 million loans and farmers in Dera Ismail Khan received Rs 270 million loans. In Balochistan, farmers in Nasirabad District received Rs 50.20 million loans.
