RAWALPINDI: The Punjab government has decided to upgrade four major hospitals of the province, including the Benazir Bhutto General Hospital, Rawalpindi. According to details, a special inspection team, constituted on the directives of Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, has started a detailed inspection of all these hospitals. In the first phase of the upgradation process, problems related to shortage of professionals and paramedic staff, non-availability of proper medical treatment for patients will be addressed in these four government hospitals. The inspection team will initially inspect prevailing conditions in all wards including surgery, medicine, gynecology, orthopedic, ICU, CCU and emergency. The record related to pending government inquiries, patients’ complaints, and implementation upon government SOPs will also be collected and a detailed report will be handed over to the CM. Later, a special package will be provided to these local hospitals to cope with the shortcomings.
