14 suspects kidnappers and murderers arrested

KOHAT: As many as 14 suspects including two proclaimed offenders were arrested during a police search and strike operation in Astarzai area here on Wednesday. Official sources said that joint teams of regular and elite police forces, led by Inspector Nazir Hussain and supervised by Deputy Superintendent of Police Abdur Rasheed Khan, conducted a raid in Mitha Khan Killay and arrested two proclaimed offenders identified as Anwar alias Toru and Javed Shah. They were wanted in various cases of kidnapping, murder and attempted murder.

Similarly, the police arrested 12 other suspects in the limits of Astarzai police station and recovered a rifle, two pistols, ammunitions and 2.5 kilogrammes of hashish. Separately, police arrested two armed accomplices of a wanted criminal in Kot area in Kohat. Sources said the police raided the nomads’ camp in Kot area in Bili Tang after receiving a tip about the presence of a wanted criminal Amin Jan. They said the wanted criminal and his armed accomplices identified as Lal Khan and Zand Khan opened fire at the police injuring a constable Nasir Shah. Police returned fire and arrested the accomplices; however, Amin Jan was able to escape. The police registered a case against the arrested men and started an investigation.
