ISLAMABAD/LAHORE: Lawyers observed a complete strike in Lahore and Islamabad on Friday on the call of the Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) to condemn the kidnapping of Owais Ali Shah, son of Sindh High Court Chief Justice Sajjad Ali Shah, in Karachi on June 20. Syed Mohammad Tayyab Advocate, president of the Islamabad Bar Association, told the media that the purpose of the strike was to condemn the wave of lawlessness in the country, including the kidnapping of chief justice’s son and murder of qawwal Amjad Sabri. He said the government should take necessary steps to eliminate terrorism from the country and arrest the culprits. Due to the strike, lawyers did not appear in courts and the courts adjourned several cases. Also, lawyers boycotted court proceedings in Lahore in protest against the kidnapping of Sindh High Court chief justice’s son. They boycotted court proceedings at sessions courts, Aiwan-e-Adl, Model Town courts, Cantonment courts, banking courts and the Lahore High Court. The Pakistan Bar Council and the Punjab Bar Council had given the call for the strike.
