ISLAMABAD: The appointment of 12 house officers at the Polyclinic Hospital has divided the young and senior doctors into two factions. The Executive Director of Polyclinic Hospital had appointed a dozen of house job officers in April this year without taking any interview and written tests from the candidates as a selection committee was not constituted at that time. The young doctors were inducted on a single order that had not any reference number or date and were only signed by the ED. These house officers were recruited on a stipend of Rs 24000 per month. The senior doctors and the members of the selection board do not even know how these appointments were made. Sources told Daily Times that the administration of the hospital had constituted an eight-member selection committee comprising senior doctors and the executive director was made the chairman vide office order No 51 dated May 7, 2016. The committee selected 25 doctors including four lady doctors on June 29 on the basis of interviews and written tests and on the recommendations of the selection committee, in accordance with the rules and regulations. But the ED had selected 12 blue eyed candidates one month prior to the formation of a selection committee in violation of the law as no senior doctor and any member of the selection committee had not made any recommendation in black and white to appoint them. When this reporter contacted the Secretary of the Capital Administration and Development Division to know his viewpoint on the illicit appointments, he said that strict action would be taken against illegal recruitments at the Polyclinic Hospital.
