Commodities prices

Published on: May 1, 2020 8:16 AM

Sir: As usual, prices make everybody disgruntled and disgraceful in Ramadan, a month of blessings when prices of different fruits, vegetables and other innumerable items drive up more compared to that of normal days, while having no spark of decency and lack of discipline in the market cause people more in these testing times like adding fuel to the fire.

During this month, food items have become unaffordable for the people who are already in deep financial crises due to Coronavirus. Since official rate lists of commodities are not followed by grocers which unacceptable. Meanwhile, grocers and retailers also complain about what they are also paying more against the same commodities in Ramadan and they are helpless to go beyond the same rates.

In fact, every government claims and comes up with some subtle plans, but, largely failed in execution for the discouragement of fraudulent practices in a month of Ramadan, although, it requires high attention and needs to be taken an unprecedented and decisive course of actions by concerned authorities very responsible against the violation of rates for the well-being and the welfare of the society.
