KOHAT: The Inspector General of Police (IGP) KP, Nasir Khan Durrani, visited the sensitive districts of Kohat and Hangu today ahead of Ashura to preside over the Aman Jirga of elders from the Shia and Sunni sects and inspect the security arrangements made by the police. The IGP also visited the District Police Command Post established in the walled city of Kohat and inspected the route for the 9th and 10th Muharram processions. The RPO Kohat briefed the IGP on the arrangements of the police and the administration in the city. The IGP while expressing his satisfaction over the arrangements made by the police and the administration urged the police officers to remain vigilant during the remaining days of Muharram. Nasir Khan Durrani also visited the main bazaar of Kohat city and interacted with the traders and the citizens. He urged the citizens to keep a close watch on suspicious elements in their neighbourhoods and to inform the police promptly in case they witness any alarming or suspicious activity. He also spoke with the citizens on issues with the police and issued directions to the field officers on the spot for the redress of public issues. Addressing the jirga, IGP Durrani praised the valiant and brave citizens of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and appreciated the efforts of the elders from both the sects for promoting sectarian harmony. He added that the military and civil law enforcement agencies had rendered valuable sacrifices for restoration of peace and it was up to the people to capitalise upon the successes for building a prosperous Pakistan.
