57 deputationist doctors, nurses repatriated

Published on: October 16, 2016 10:00 PM

ISLAMABAD: The federal government has decided to send back more than 57 doctors working on deputation in the different hospitals of the federal capital and directed them to report to their parent departments.

These doctors were working at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences, the Poly Clinic Hospital and the NIRM Hospital on deputation basis, using their political contacts. Most of them were re-inducted into the Capital Administration and Development Division (CA&DD).

With the cancellation of their orders of re-induction, the three hospitals could face a shortage of the medical officers, a well place source said.

The government had decided to move these doctors back in the light of the Supreme Court’s judgment in which the court had directed to send back all employees who were merged into the federal government departments.

The Supreme Court delivered this judgment on August 2 on Petition No. 89 moved by a local citizen, in which he stated that dozens of public employees had been merged into the federal government, on account of their political affiliations, thus violation the existing laws.

The Supreme Court of Pakistan heard this case in detail and gave an opportunity to all the officers concerned to explain their position and the court gave its landmark judgment and declared that the officers who are working in the federal department on deputation should be sent back immediately.

While complying with the court order, the CA&DD Ministry sought the details of those doctors who were working on deputation and at last decided to send them back to their parent departments.

It is pertinent to mention here that dozens of officers appointed in the CDA on deputation basis have already been sent back to their parent departments and some senior officers of some other departments are likely to take punitive action against all those officers who had been merged on deputation basis.

A well placed source told Daily Times that more than 57 doctors working at the PIMS, the Poly Clinic and NIRM hospitals would suffer from this decision.

On Friday, the Secretary CA&DD issued orders and directed all the doctors enlisted on deputation to go back to their parents departments as now these 60 doctors will not serve the patients of the capital from Monday.

The medical officers whose repatriation orders have been issued were working at the PIMS and now they have been directed to report to their parent departments.

The names of the doctors whose orders were issued include Dr Raja Amjad Mehmood, Dr Mutahir Shah, Dr Ijaz Qadeer, Dr Nasir Naik Akhtar, Dr Yasin Ara, Dr Faisal Khan Kakar, Dr Gul Rehman, Dr Khalid Saeed, Dr Kausar Rehana, Dr Ghiasuddin Jan, Dr Iffat Aziz, Dr Sumera Mazhar, Dr Javed Iqbal, Dr Muhammad Arif Khan, Dr Hadi Hina, Dr Shumaila Naeem, Dr Muhammad alias Khan, Dr Saeeda Zakia Shah, Dr Imranuddin, Dr Irfan Ahmed, Dr Nasreen Butt, Dr Tazeen Anwar, Dr, Mudasar Gondal and Dr, Azmatullah Khan.

Besides these doctors, some 10 nurses who were also working at the PIMS have also been directed to report to their parent departments. As many as 11 doctors working at Poly Clinic Hospital were also directed to report to their parent departments including Dr Aftab Ali Malik, Dr Masood Ghani, Dr Perveen Abrar, Dr Noorani Esar, Dr Ghulam Mustafa Solangi, Dr Amina Mustafa Solangi, Dr Sobia, Dr, Ijaz, Dr Shamma, Dr Hameed Somroo and four nurses.

As many as four medical officers and three technical personnel from NIRM Hospital have also been asked to report to their parent departments. They include Dr Muhammad Bota Tahir, Dr Ambreen Shahi, Dr Zahir Shah, Dr Beenish Parveen, Nasir Khan speech therapist, Nadir Khan stenotypist.
