GUJRANWALA: The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) claimed to have foiled a major terror bid and gunned down three alleged Al Qaeda terrorists in Gujranwala. The CTD, on a tip, conducted a search operation at Aroop area in Gujranwala on Tuesday, where the terrorists started firing at the raiding party. The CTD, in retaliatory firing, shot dead three terrorists affiliated with proscribed outfit, while two terrorists fled from the scene. The CTD personnel cordoned off the area and launched a search operation to apprehend the suspects. According to CTD spokesperson, the deceased were affiliated with Al Qaeda and were planning to carry out attacks on sensitive sites and places in the city. The CTD personnel also recovered two Kalashnikovs, two pistols and hundreds of bullets from suspects’ possession. The bodies were shifted to the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital for postmortem.
