Bhittai Social Watch & Advocacy (BSWA)’s series of peace talks, dialogue and lectures, the first dialogue on peace entitled “Peace and Human Security-History of Conflicts in Northern Sindh,” was held at the Shah Abdul Latif University (SALU), Khairpur. According to details provided by Professor Hassan Shaikh who is the Focal Person of the Project at SALU, the dialogue was moderated by renowned Development Sector Scholar Adam Malik from Karachi. Muhammad Ali Lashari, Professor Ghulam Mustafa Buledi, Professor Sarfraz Ali Korejo, renowned lawyer and Faculty of Law Dean, Manzoor Hussain Larik, Professor Muhammad Ibrahim Khokhar and Professor Hassan Shaikh were the panelists for the dialogue. The interactive session was fruitful and lively following the extensive participation and thought provoking questions from the participants and moderated knowledge based and valuable feedback from the panelists. The dialogue traced history, causes and effects of clashes, conflicts and religious, ethnic and tribal clashes in Northern Sindh. Father, three sons die by consuming toxic food The scholars revealed that the better way to cope with conflicts is the process of dialogue. Peace can be maintained through collaborative endeavors. May peace prevail on earth. The scholars emphasised upon the students to act as ambassadors of peace and promote this noble cause to their respective areas. It was discussed that role of universities in promoting peace and harmony is a universal phenomenon and in the given scenario of Upper Sindh, SALU may play vital role in peace. Separately, a man along with three minor sons died due to consummated toxic food near Pano aqil. According to details, two days ago a family of Indher community ate poisonous food in the village Satabo Indher of Taluka Pano Aaqil and went unconscious, so they were brought to Sukkur hospital, and were later referred to the Karachi Hospital. However, the two brothers including Mujeeb Indher, aged 18, Moeen Indher, aged 17 and Shamsuddin Indher along with their father Aijaz Ali Indher died in the hospital. The condition of the third younger brother Sheeraz Indher is stated to be still critical. After received this information, the mother of the deceased went into a comma and her condition is also serious. A paternal uncle of the deceased alleged that they were poisoned by their step-grandmother. The medical report had still not come out, so no further action could be taken.
