LAHORE: National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq said on Friday that that the federal government has the right to appoint a new governor and does not need the provincial government’s permission to do so. He further said the Supreme Court’s (SC) verdict to legitimise the election of Minister Khawaja Asif is another victory for the ruling party – the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N). Sadiq said that the verdict was accepted by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and ‘this is a good gesture’. “The PTI will be welcomed if it comes in the National Assembly and the Senate,” he said. To a question he said that the Young Doctors Association (YDA) should not protest after the Lahore High Court’s (LHC) verdict as ‘the general public is suffering due to their sit-in’.
