Rizwan Ahmed appointed new TDAP secretary

Published on: November 18, 2016 4:23 AM

ISLAMABAD: The government has decided to replace Secretary Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) Rabiya Javeri Agha with Chairman Trading Cooperation of Pakistan (TCP) Rizwan Ahmed.

Sources told this scribe that the prime minister has given approval of Secretary TDAP’s transfer and appointed TCP chairman Rizwan Ahmed in his place as Secretary TDAP. The sources said that the Commerce Ministry was keen to transfer the head office of the TDAP to federal capital Islamabad from Karachi, but Rabiya was the main hindrance in the move. That created differences between her and the big bosses of the ministry. She was assigned the task to revamp TDAP but failed to do so. During her tenure, the country failed to achieve export targets and export plunged down to $21.68 billion. Rabiya Javeri Agha is a senior officer in (BPS-22). She belongs to District Management Group (DMG) and was appointed as TDAP Secretary in 2014. Before her appointment to current post, she had spent most of her service in Sindh. Rizwan Ahmed is a career civil servant belonging to Pakistan Administrative Service (PAS). He did his Masters in Social Sciences from SZABIST and Masters in Public Administration (MPA) from Harvard University. When Daily Times tried to contact Rabiya Javeri Agha, she did not respond.
