ISLAMABAD: The head male nurse Azmat Hussain of the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) who was involved in the sexual harassment to female nurses has been reappointed in the hospital on the recommendations of the Chief Nurse. The charge against Azmat was proved on December 5 2015 for sexually harassing the third year student of the Nursing College at the PIMS. At that time the PIMS administration hoodwinked the media by telling during a press conference that he was removed from service on being proven guilty but as a matter of fact he was clandestinely transferred to Sindh after being proven guilty. Daily Times got the documented evidences, which showed that Azmat had received his full pay and allowances and other perks from December 15 2015 to date, for the entire period of his absence, even though he was sitting idle at home. During that period he had the support of the Principal College of Medical Technicians (CMT) Dr Naseer and Chief Nurse Farzana Islam. During that period both high officials had cleared the pavement for his return to his duty. He was reinstated on March 3 this year but given three months leave on full pay. Now on November 22, 2016, he had marked his attendance on the official attendance register of the hospital. When Daily Times contacted the former President of the Nurses Association, Juliana, she said that they would not allow Azmat to stay in the PIMS. In this connection a group of nurses had already met with the Administrator, Dr Altaf , who had issued the orders to remove him When this scribe contacted Dr Altaf he said that Azmat was sent to the planning section by removing him from the nursing cadre. He said that as he is a regular employee working in BPS-17, so it is the prerogative of the ministry to take any action against him.
