Johnny Depp may not be too thrilled with his latest honour. For the second year in a row, the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ star has earned the No.1 spot on Forbes‘ annual Most Overpaid Actors list, E! News reports. According to the publication, Johnny returned just $2.80 at the box office for every $1 he was paid for the projects. The calculations were based on the last three films each actor starred in before June 2016, excluding animated films. In Johnny’s case, ‘Alice Through the Looking Glass’ was one of his biggest films during that time period; the movie grossed just $300 million on a $170 million budget. Forbes also points out the fact that star power doesn’t always equal to revenue for popular movie franchises. Will Smith came in second place by returning $5 for every $1 he was paid, thanks to lower-performing movies including ‘Focus’ and ‘Concussion’. Perhaps one of the biggest surprises to come from the list is Channing Tatum. While he found huge success with ‘Magic Mike XXL’, it earned $122 million on a $14 million budget; his film average decreased after a disappointing run by ‘Jupiter Ascending’.
