ISLAMABAD: The Registrar Cooperatives Islamabad, Muhammad Ali, has taken the charge of the Civilian Employees Cooperative Housing Society after the revelation of a large scale corruption scam. The President, Ansar Gondal and General Secretary Yasir Mehndi of the Civilian Employees Cooperative Housing Society Islamabad, had levelled serious charges against each other about financial irregularities and abusing of authority. In addition to this many affected persons of the housing society also gave several applications to the Registrar against the corrupt practices in the CECHS in which it was told that the office bearers of the society sold plots reserved for parks, educational institutions and a graveyard by declaring them commercial plots without the consent of the Registrar. In this way they earned billion of rupees illegally. According to the rules and regulations, any society cannot make the commercial plots without getting the approval of the Registrar Cooperatives as well as the concerned civic agency. No society is authorised to alter the approved master plan. The citizens have attached proofs with their applications that the commercial plazas had been constructed on these plots. They also levelled the charges against the president of the housing society that after selling these public welfare plots, he had the amount invested abroad. The Registrar, after hearing the point of view of all the concerned parties carefully and in light of the evidence, had reserved the decision in the past .On Wednesday, he disclosed his verdict and dismissed the office bearers and executive body and took charge of the society. In his decision, the Registrar also banned the former president and the ex general secretary to contest the elections of the society. He also assured the affected people that everybody would have justice and no one would be deprive of his legal right.
