Funeral prayers held for Gwadar PC’s martyred security guards

Published on: May 14, 2019 12:24 AM

Funeral prayers were offered on Monday for two security guards of Gwadar’s Pearl Continental (PC) hotel, martyred in a terrorist attack.

The last rites of martyrs, Bilal Lashari and Zahoor Lashari, were attended by Senior Superintendents Police (SSP) of Badin and Tando Muhammad Khan as well as thousands of people in their hometowns.

The two guards were killed during an exchange of fire with terrorists.

Earlier on Saturday, three terrorists had stormed the five-star hotel in Gwadar. All guests staying at the hotel were safely evacuated from the property due to a clearance operation by the security forces.

According to security officials, three militants had targeted the hotel.

The fire was exchanged between security forces and the terrorists.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the security forces had quarantined the area; confining the terrorists to one place. They were all killed.

The attack also wounded two Pakistan Army captains, two soldiers of Pakistan Navy and two hotel workers, ISPR added.

It is believed that the terrorists had entered the hotel with a plan to make hostage the guests inside. However, they were stopped by a security guard at the central gate, ISPR claimed.
