X-Men spin-off Legion gets premiere date for third and final season

Published on: May 6, 2019 1:11 AM

Surreal X-Men spin-off Legion is set to return for its third and final season, and now we know exactly when that will be.

As reported by TVLine, the show will return on Monday, June 24 at 10pm on American network FX. At the current time, it is unknown how many episodes there will be.

Earlier this year it was confirmed that Legion would be ending with its third season – not because of The Walt Disney Company’s takeover of 20th Century Fox, but because show creator Noah Hawley always envisioned the series as a three-season show.

FX boss John Landgraf previously said: “Noah Hawley had always considered Legion to be a three-season show, and he has confirmed that he’s going to stick with his plan. This will be the final season.”

The main X-Men movie series is going to end with this year’s Dark Phoenix, mostly because Disney has plans to fold the characters into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Meanwhile, The New Mutants is apparently scheduled for August, but who knows at this point.

Elsewhere, The Gifted was recently cancelled after two seasons, while the Deadpool movie franchise is set to continue as is. Legion season three is set to reunite main character David Haller with his father, who is none other than Professor Charles Xavier himself. Sir Patrick Stewart won’t be in it, but very good actor Harry Lloyd has been cast in the role instead. Meanwhile, Stephanie Corneliussen will play David’s mum Gabrielle.
