Adnan, administering wrong injection, was not a doctor

Published on: April 29, 2019 2:49 PM

KARACHI: Adnan, the man who administered a wrong injection to the girl in a clinic in Gulshan-e-Iqbal area is found to have no MBBS degree.

On Monday, he reported to a local court that he was, in fact, a homeopathic doctor. He had been awarded a degree by Dr. Waheed. The court then sought the latter’s arrest.

Adnan also claimed innocent before appearing in the court.

He claimed that he had been in practice since last 18 years, having done his house job from Jinnah Hospital, Karachi. “I did not give the infant the wrong medicine,” he said.

He alleged that the father complained of the child having fits after being administered the injection. “I told them to go to the hospital after this,” he added.

He said that had he known of the child’s condition before, he would not have given her the injection.

On Sunday, eight-year-old Saba Noor was administered an injection by the accused for allegedly treating cough and flu. Immediately after, as a reaction, her mouth began to foam and she died, her father told a private source.

“Seeing her condition, the [doctor] named Adnan told us to rush to another hospital. But she died [before that],” he said.

Although Adnan has been arrested; an FIR will be filed only after the post mortem report, says the police.
