Published on: April 28, 2019 1:28 AM

gems, shineAll Pakistan Commercial Exporters Association (APCEA) intend to initiate weekly gem Bazar after Eid aimed at providing a platform to showcase Pakistani gems and promote this sector having huge potential.

Talking to media, an official of APCEA informed that initially about 30 to 35 stalls would be established in weekly Bazar of Namak Mandi Peshawar after which they would spread this across the country

He informed that weekly gem Bazar was the first of its kind in the country as earlier no proper platform was provided to the gem stone investors to showcase their products. The initiative would provide a safe place for the dealers where they could display their products to local as well as foreign investors, he added.

He was of the view that Pakistani Gem stone sector has a lot of potential and through providing facilities and enhancing outreach of the investors they could further promote trade related activates in the country.

He also urged government to facility export related activities in gem stone sector which would help attract huge foreign reserve in the country.

He added that foreign investors always showed great interest in Pakistani gems but due to the non availability of any safe and guaranteed space they hesitate to invest in this sector.

He said weekly gem bazaar would also provide an opportunity to the small and medium investors to extend their outreach and promote their businesses. Beside business opportunity the form would also help to enhance interaction among all the stakeholders, he added.

He informed that number of precious and semi-precious stones including sapphire, tourmaline, rubies, peridot, emerald, tourmaline, turquoise, aquamarine and topaz would be put on display in weekly gem bazaar.

The source further informed that beside weekly Gem bazaar APCEA also intend to establish a gem center in collaboration with Small and medium enterprises (SMEDA) and provincial government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa which would provide proper and safe place to gem stone investors.
