ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has tasked Fazlur Rehman to pacify leadership of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP). Fazl, chief of his own faction of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam, called on Nawaz on Tuesday in the PM’s House. They exchanged views on prevailing political situation of the country and matters of national importance. They also discussed four demands of the PPP. Sources said the PM tasked the cleric to persuade the PPP not to stage protest demonstrations. Fazl will make efforts to narrow down the differences between the government and PPP through dialogue with Asif Zardari and other leaders, sources added. Nawaz said the PML-N was a democratic party. It is pursuing the policy of taking along all in the journey to the country’s development, he added. The way for real development could be paved by taking along the opposition, the PM added. Separately, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar also called on Nawaz. Nisar briefed the PM on internal security. Nawaz was told that internal security and border system was being improved. Nisar also informed Nawaz about his recent visit to Torkham. He told the PM that wings of national defence-related institutions were being set up to improve border system and Rs 70 billion are being spent in this regard. According to a press release issued by the PML-N media cell, Nawaz will inaugurate power production from Chashma Nuclear Project-III on Wednesday (today). The nuclear power plant is a joint collaboration of Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC) and China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC). The presser said the project will contribute to the country’s economic development through energy supply to industrial and commercial sectors.
