Sir: Through the columns of your esteemed newspaper, I want to draw the kind attention of concerned authorities towards the unrelenting problem of child labour in our country. In spite of many anti-child labour laws, the problem continues to spoil the lives of thousands of children. The adverse effects of this problem affect the growth, development and progress of our nation. Irony is that, these children are never paid properly; they are being paid the minimum of wages. Our country needs more skilled manpower to achieve the objectives of growth and advancement. Therefore, I request the concerned authorities to look into this matter and take some proactive measures to stop this problem of child labour and minimum wages. ABIRA KHAN Karachi
