CAA returns homemade plane to aircraft maker

Published on: April 5, 2019 5:31 AM

A team of Civil Aviation Authority followed the directives of Secretary Aviation/Director General Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority, Shahrukh Nusrat, on Thursday and returned the confiscated mini aeroplane to its owner.

The handmade plane was handed back to Muhammad Fayyaz, the resident of Arifwala from Pakpattan district, on Thursday evening. A team of CAA, headed by Deputy Airport Manager of Lahore Airport, Nazeer Ahmed Khan, retrieved the mini craft from Rang Shah Police Station, Pakpattan.

It may be pertinent to mention that Pakpattan Police had taken into custody a mini jet when its maker, Muhammad Fayyaz, had attempted to fly it sans registration from any concerned authority. He was also arrested during the trial run at an open field on March 31.

A popcorn seller and a security guard by profession, Fayyaz had made a small aircraft with his savings and a bank loan of Rs50,000. The aeroplane maker was later released by the local court after Rs3,000 charge. Fayyaz expressed his pleasure on getting his plane back. Sources have informed that a Civil Aviation Authorities delegation would inspect his plane tomorrow.

Nusrat said in this regard that the passion and skills of Fayaz were appreciated and CAA would guide him to achieve more expertise in his field. He said that the New Aviation Policy 2019 had been developed in line with the vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan and would ensure that no stone is left unturned to promote and encourage aviation in Pakistan.

Under the policy, the Civil Aviation Authority did not only serve as a regulator of the aviation industry but also as a facilitator to promote aviation activities across the country.

“A technical team of CAA will inspect the mini aeroplane to decide if it may be allowed to fly or not”, he concluded.
