KARACHI: Police and activists of religious parties attacked social activists and women on Thursday, who were protesting for the recovery of Salman Haider and other human rights activists who went missing from Islamabad a few days ago. According to details, a large number of social activists including women were holding a protest demonstration organized by National Trade Union Federation (NTUF). Near the Sindh Assembly at Arts Council of Pakistan Chowk for the recovery of human rights activist Salman Haider and other activists who went missing a few days ago from different cities. Human rights activist, Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU)’s professor Salman Haider and others, including poets, academic persons and bloggers went missing from various cities between January 4 and January 7. The protesters alleged that these activists have been kidnapped by Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) and demanded thier immediate release. They were also chanting slogans against the LEAs. Meanwhile, workers of Jamate Ahle Sunnat Pakistan came to the protest against NTUF and their protest and started chanting slogans in favor of LEA’s and against the protesters who were their in favor of the human rights activists. According to eye witnesses, the workers of religious parties and police attacked the protesters in a sudden move and stated beating them. Later, the Rangers and the FC personnel were also rushed to the site. The Police batton charged the protesters and arrested some of them.
