ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf on Thursday held a ceremony to mark its 100-day plan in power at the Jinnah Convention Center in Islamabad.
Addressing the ceremony, Prime Minister Imran Khan credited his wife, Bushra Bibi, for the first 100 days of his government for he took only one day off in these 100 days. He said his wife supported him in difficult times.
Speaking of the government’s performance, he said they tried to benefit a common man from their policies, adding that the same reason was behind friendship with India as it will help increase trade between the two countries.
Khan said his government was bringing a system of education.
“The policies adopted by government in the first 100 days are inspired by the state of Madina. In Madina, Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) adopted policies that were based on compassion; all policies were made for the poor. The difference between developed and underdeveloped countries is corruption, we have so much assets but we are still behind, and our institutions are in shambles all because of corruption,” said Imran Khan.
The Prime Minister said that we are trying to fix the health system of the country through health reforms. Government has made a task force to improve this system, he added.
He said the government was also working to eliminate poverty in the country. “My initial plan was to eradicate corruption,” the premier said, noting that developed and first world countries have no corruption in there.
He said that corruption is the only difference between the developed and under-developed countries.
The PTI government is also taking action against electricity theft in the country. He termed electricity theft major cause behind the increase in the prices of electricity. The premier said every year Rs85 billion were lost to power thefts in Pakistan. “So far, 6000 FIRs have been lodged against pilferers involved in massive theft of power,” he added.
He said his government was establishing a shelter home in Rawalpindi, while a place for it has also been marked in Islamabad.
Khan said they had given Rs5 billion to Akhuwat Foundation a Non-Government Organisation (NGO) that provides loans to poor people on easy installments.
PM Imran said that the government has also decided that all poor households will be given health cards, adding that the government is bringing health reforms and health cards.
Khan added that National Accountability Bureau (NAB) is an independent institution, and we are not responsible for what anti-graft watchdog does. Everyone including NAB should tolerate criticism, Khan added.
PM Imran, who was the chief guest on the occasion, reviewed the performance of his government since it was voted into power in the July 28 election.
The ceremony is being attended by all federal ministers, advisers and PTI workers.
