Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif is reportedly reluctant to hold a one-on-one meeting with former president Asif Ali Zardari, a private TV channel reported on Saturday, quoted sources. The report said Nawaz has reservations over Pakistan Peoples Party’s role following the July 25 general elections. Efforts are being made by Jamiat Ulema Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rahman to convince the former prime minister for the meeting, it added. Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) members say Nawaz can meet Zardari only at an all parties conference (APC), and that the former prime minister will seek an assurance from the JUI-F chief regarding PPP’s support. It is pertinent to mention here that Zardari had met Fazl at his residence a few days ago where the two leaders had agreed to summon an APC. Fazl, however, had said that a date for the conference would be announced after consultation with Nawaz. Published in Daily Times, October 28th 2018.
