Hyderabad Deputy Commissioner (DC) Aslam Soomro on Thursday urged members of civil society and other concerned departments to play their part in raising awareness about the threat of polio in the society and emphasised on participating in the three-day anti-polio drive starting from September 24 in Hyderabad for saving the ‘future of children’ from physical disability. Reportedly, he presided over a review meeting at Shahbaz Hall in Hyderabad to examine polio threat in the district. He directed health officers to ensure that all children under the age of 5 were administered anti-polio drops and try to convince parents who refuse drops. He further ordered them to improve micro-plan of the anti-polio campaign. In this regard, 1,131 teams have been formed to administer anti-polio drops to 336,695 children under 5-year age in the district. The teams will be supervised by 13 taluka supervisors, 77 union council municipal officers and 244 area in-charge officers. HCSTSI’s new executive committee elected, official announcement on Sept 25 The Hyderabad Chamber of Small Traders and Small Industry’s (HCSTSI) new executive committee has been elected unopposed on Thursday, according to a returning officer. Reportedly, 19 members had submitted their nomination forms for the 16 seats of executive committee, but three members including Sikendar Ali Rajput, Ahmed Idris Chohan and Muhammad Adnan withdrew their forms. The elected members include Daulat Ram Lohana, Saleemuddin Qureshi, Ramizuddin, Altaf Memon, Sohail Memon, Arif Memon, Javed Qureshi, Abdul Saleem Arain, Zulfiqar Farooqui, Farooq Shekhani, Muhammad Naeem, Munir Abbas, Muhammad Sharif, Shahid Qaimkhani, Ayub Shaikh and Yamin Khilji.
