Dr Jogezai disproves claim of excusing himself from Balochistan governorship

Published on: August 26, 2018 10:34 AM

KARACHI/QUETTA: Dr. Ameer Mohammad Khan Jogezai refuted on Sunday night the claims that he had excused himself from taking up the post of the governor of Balochistan.

He denied such claims while talking to the media almost an hour after reports had emerged about his claim of not accepting the slot.

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) nominee for the post of Balochistan governorship told the media that his remarks had been “portrayed in an incorrect manner”.

He clarified that he did not excuse himself from the post but he had said that he would not take oath as governor until he was given the required clearance.

Mentioning that the government offices will reopen in the coming week after the Eid-ul-Azha holidays, Jogezai stated that he would “take oath after the NAB (National Accountability Bureau) issues the certificate next week”.

“I do not have any FIR [first information report] or cases against me at present,” the nominee for Balochistan governor further added. He further extended gratitude to the Prime minister (PM) for nominating him for the slot.

On Saturday evening a video clip had that surfaced on social media suggested that the PTI nominee had excused himself from the nomination.

Jogezai refused Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s offer of Balochistan governorship. In a video message, he said that he was thankful to Prime Minister Imran Khan and Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) for putting their faith in him.

He said that there had been no case registered against him since 2005.

Dr. Jogezai’s refusal came after the PTI leadership nominated him as the new Balochistan governor. Dr. Jogezai is a pediatrician by profession and has also served as the registrar in Quetta’s Bolan Medical College.
