LARKANA: All arrangements for holding general elections 2018 for two National Assembly and four Provincial Assembly seats of Larkana district were finalised on Tuesday. Election material was handed over to the deployed polling officers under tight security of police and army who reached at the relevant polling stations. PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari will be contesting for NA-200 against MMA candidate Rashid Mahmood Soomro, who enjoys support of Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA), Larkana Awami Ittehad (LAI) and Pakistan Tahreek Insaf (PTI). Both candidates are young, energetic and will be contesting election for the first time. Soomro conducted door-to-door campaign but Bilawal has so far been unable to meet residents of Naundero or Larkana individually. In NA-201, PPP’s Khursheed Ahmed Junejo faces GDA’s Dado Allah Bux Unar and PTI’s Quratul Ain Unar. Tough contest is also expected on all four provincial assembly seats between PPP and GDA candidates. PPP’s Faryal Talpur will be contesting against PTI’s Ameer Bakhsh Bhutto in PS-10. After disqualification of Nisar Ahmed Khuhro, PPP awarded party ticket to his daughter Nida Khuhro in PS-11, who is facing a strong candidates in LAI and GDA Moazim Ali Abbasi. In PS-12, former home minister Suhail Anwar Siyal will be contesting against GDA’s Syed Akbar Shah Rashdi, while in PS-13, PPP’s Hizbullah Bughio will be facing Unar family’s GDA-backed Adil Altaf Unar. The district of Larkana district has 703,255 registered voters, out of which 286,923 are female and 384,549 are male.
