Sand Festival in Belgium is going to be one of its kind and is one of the biggest festivals arranged globally. A total of 150 sculptures will be exhibited on the beach in Ostend where the festival will take place. The sculptures will relate to the films of Disney, Pixar, Marvel, and Star Wars. It is expected to run until September only if the artwork sustained through the weather. 34 international artists have used 6,000 tonnes of sand and took a period of 4 weeks in creating these sculptures. This festival is acknowledged by the Guinness Book of Records as the biggest sand festival. There are some sculptures which are taller than the rest. Artists are involved in wood and marble carving and according to them sand sculpting is a difficult task. Russian artist Sergey Zaplatn said, “What I like in the sand is that you must be very tactile while carving, I am also an ice carver and to compare with ice, the sand is very fragile.” In the festival you will get to see sculptures depicting the characters of Daffy Duck, Yoda, Bruce, and the white shark from Finding Nemo.
