LARKANA: The Sindh Health Secretary Dr Fazalullah Pechuho on Sunday visited Chandka Medical College Hospital (CMC) and held a meeting with doctors to discuss issues of the largest teaching hospital of upper Sindh. He was accompanied by Commissioner Muhammad Abbas Baloch, Medical superintendent Dr Ali Gohar Dahri, District Health Officer Dr Abdul Rahman Baloch and others. The meeting examined the budget allocations, shortage of medicines and paramedics and regularisation of daily wagers to improve services of 1500-bed capacity hospital. Pechuho inspected the food being supplied to the indoor patients while patients complaint that the food was unhygienic. He expressed dissatisfaction over a non-functioning intensive care unit (ICU) while he was told by MS Dr Dahri that it would be operational within three months. He found filthy bed sheets, rusted stretchers, broken beds in the casualty and ordered the authorities to replace them immediately. He also inspected the operation theater of orthopedics department and found non-functional air-conditioners. He visited under-construction surgical department, MRI and CT scan. MS Dr Dahri tried to convince the health secretary that the condition would improve. Meanwhile, the health secretary ordered to provide free medicines and other essential facilities to the patients on urgent basis. He said that a stern action would be taken against negligence.
