LARKANA: UNICEF and DHO doctors diagnosing boy suspected of infected with poliovirus on Tuesday. One year-old kid Ali Hassan Son of Nadim alias Bashir Shah, resident of UC-6, Kausar Mill locality, near Disposal, Larkana, was suspected of having polio virus. A team of senior doctors consisting of Dr. Ashiq Jokhio, Surveillance Officer, Dr. Abdul Rahman Baloch, incharge DHO and Dr. Asif Shahzad of UNICEF reached his home and got the sample of stool and sent them to Virology Laboratory of NIH Islamabad for analysis. These doctors told media that report will be received within a week and will be confirmed whether the boy has been affected or not, adding his second sample will also be obtained within next 24 hours, which too will be sent to NIH. His father Bashir Shah told media that they had also gone to a faith healer due to weakness and when his kid was continuously weeping and then they went to orthopedics surgeon Prof Asadullah Mahar for treatment. He said that his son also fell down from the cot and was feeling severe pain in his left leg. He said his son had always been administered anti-polio drops during usual and special anti-polio campaigns. His preliminary diagnosis was trauma and muscular strain.
