Influential mafia occupying land of Canadian businessmen in Raiwind

Published on: April 16, 2018 3:24 AM

LAHORE: The influential land mafia has allegedly occupied precious land belonging to Canadian businessmen in Raiwind area of the city.

The mafia is trying to grab the land of Canadian citizens Sheikh Daud Ashraf and Waqas Qadeer Dar, while the Raiwind city police isreluctant to take any action against the powerful accused.

The alleged land grabbers – Rana Izhar, Rana Safdar, Ali Dogar and Mansha – continue to deploy various tactics to maintain the illegal occupation of lands.

Sheikh Daud has got 35 cases of forgery registered against the accused in various police stations of the city. They have also appealed to Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar to take suo moto notice of the issue.

Sheikh Daud said he is perturbed over the illegal occupation of his land in Raiwind. “I am permanently settled in Canada for managing my business there. The influential land grabbers have prepared a fake deed to capture my land. Interestingly, the date they have mentioned on the deed is that on which I was not even present in Pakistan. I am running from pillar to the post and worried about my land. My whole family is worried about the issue. I urge the chief justice to take suo moto notice of my case as no one in Pakistan is listening to my voice,” he said.

Sheikh Daud said that he has moved an application in the court of civil judge Imran Khan and attached all proofs of his property with the application.

According to documents and police reports available, at least 25armed people including Rana Izhar and Rana Safdar allegedly resorted to indiscriminate firing on Sheikh Daud’s employee Jamil Ahmed, abused him and went on to damage luggage and other property in the house. They intimidated Jamil and other employees and threatened them of dire consequences.

Raiwindpolice did not visit the site despite being informed of the incident several times.

Another victim of the mafia, former prosecutor general of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Waqas Qadeer Dar, owns land measuring 11 kanals and 14 marlas near Raiwind Bypass on Sundar Road. His family has obtained a stay order from the court. However, the alleged land grabbers are continuously harassing employees of both the victims.
