Nobel laureate and pride of the nation, Malala Yousufzai, is on a four-day visit to Pakistan – a country not very welcoming of the young women rights activist.
Upon her visit, Malala held a press conference in which she broke into tears as she spoke about her return to her homeland.
“I still cannot believe I am in Pakistan,” the Nobel laureate said adding that she had been dreaming of the day since last 5 years.
A Twitter hashtag #WelcomeMalala remains among the top trends, where a vast majority is commemorating the return of the country’s beloved daughter.
There are, however, those who are not-so-welcoming of Malala and are criticising the move citing all sorts of conspiracy theories.
But, today, their relevance is as minute as it ought to be. In her five years away from home, Malala has soared to greater heights and built upon the courageous little girl she always was.
Not everyone has the strength to look right in the eye of Talibanism and make the masculinity the extremists brag about look so overwhelmingly fragile.
Malala’s visit to Pakistan, and her emotional press-talk is a true representation of a patriot – who has been wronged by the very people she fought for.
Nevertheless, her arrival is a moment to celebrate the young genius and her works. It is proud moment for everyone who believes in Malala, and we here at Daily Times, are honoured to welcome her.
