ISLAMABAD: Air Chief Marshal Sohail Aman handed over the command of Pakistan Air Force (PAF) to Air Marshal Mujahid Anwar Khan during a ceremony at PAF headquarters on Monday. The outgoing air chief was presented a guard of honour by a smartly turned out contingent of PAF, while Sohail Aman handed over the ‘Command Sword’ to Air Marshal Mujahid Anwar and also pinned him with the ranks of ACM. Speaking at the ceremony, Sohail Aman said: “It is an honour for me to serve in Pakistan Air force. In recent years, the defense of country has strengthened. PAF have always played a pivotal role in war against terrorism and protecting the country. PAF is being equipped in accordance with modern technology.” The Prime Minister approved the appointment of Air Marshal Mujahid Anwar Khan as new chief of air staff on Friday. He has superseded Vice Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal Farooq Habib, who was senior to him. According to the PAF spokesperson, Mujahid Anwar Khan got commissioned in the force in December 1983 and has received the coveted Sword of Honor, Best Pilot trophy and Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee gold medal from PAF Academy Asghar Khan. During his service, he has held various command and staff positions. He has flown various training and fighter aircraft including F-16, F-6, FT-5, T-37 and MFI-17. In recognition of his estimable services, he was also awarded Hilal-e-Imtiaz (Military), Sitara-e-Imtiaz (Military) and Tamgha-e-Imtiaz (Military).
