MADRID: Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane on Sunday hailed Cristiano Ronaldo as the ‘best player in the galaxy’ after the number 7’s performance against Eibar in the Spanish league.
Madrid scored a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Eibar as Cristiano Ronaldo scored twice to surprass rival Lionel Messi’s tally of 32 goals for the season. The Portuguese now has a total of 33 goals this season thus far.
Addressing a press conference, coach Zidane said that he knew Cristiano would score against Eibar, while he also praised the 33-year-old for scoring in his last seven games after a slow start at the beginning of the season.
“For me, he’s from another galaxy. He knows that he will score. He is a different, special player. The statistics speak for themselves,” Zidane said.
Zidane also praised the hosts for putting up a healthy fight against the defending European and Spanish champions. “They were clearly better than us,” he said.
Ronaldo has made 34 appearances for Madrid this season, scoring 33 times, while making additional 5 assists.
