The powerhouse duo of Faisal Kapadia and Bilal Maqsood, who laid the blueprint for pop-rock via their massive body of work, is all set to celebrate three decades of definitive music with the release of eight brand new singles, the first two tracks being Sajni and Urr Jaoon.
The multifaceted duo has five studio albums, four Coke Studio seasons, and multiple international film soundtracks and accolades to their name. They have been playing together since the lates 80s and have become a true marker in what has become one of the historically significant bands to ever emerge from South Asia.
Strings was first formed in 1988 by four members, and they went on to release their first critically-acclaimed self-titled album, Strings, signed on with major record label EMI, in 1990. This was followed by their second album 2, in 1992, which featured tracks such as Sar Kiye Yeh Pahar and Dil Ki Kahani.
The two band members took their separate ways in the same year and returned after a hiatus of eight years, marking a comeback with the release of their third studio album, Duur, in 2000.
Following their huge success, Strings released their fourth studio album, Dhaani, which included a single titled Najane Kyuun; this was featured as a soundtrack for the Hollywood film Spider-Man 2 in 2004 as well as the Urdu version of Spider-Man by Columbia TriStar Films of India.
With this, Strings became the first ever Pakistani band to sing on an international film. In 2005, they won their first international award as MTV Asia’s Favourite Artist India.
The band released their fifth studio album, Koi Aanay Wala Hai, in 2008 and also produced the soundtrack for the award-winning Pakistani feature film, Moor, in 2015.
Strings made their debut with Coke Studio’s season 7 in 2014 and produced four consecutive seasons till they bid farewell to the country’s biggest music platform last year, with a promise to return with even more masterpieces, as they continue to embark on exciting new chapters in their musical exppedition.
