Sir: According to McDonald’s official policy, all workers are equal. Discrimination of any sort; whether religious, cultural or racial is not supposed to be tolerated. There also isn’t supposed to be any favouritism, demerits or injustice. However, it seems that the Autobahn McDonald’s branch does not run on these principles. The concerned authorities must take a look into what has been happening at this specific branch, because official policy is not being followed there. The staff is subject to abuse by the Autobahn management on a daily basis. Frankly, I do not understand how a multinational company can allow this do happen. It is only possible if the branch is not being monitored correctly which is certainly not proper for a multinational. The management at this branch are not paying proper attention. They are not sincere in how they perform their duties. It seems like they just come to work to sit in the office and collect salaries at the start of every month. I would like to mention here that it is also the management’s job to help solve the problems being faced by workers. The situation is completely the opposite at the Autobahn branch. Here the management only adds to worker’s problems, often firing employees at a moment’s notice over minor mistakes. I was also victimised by the management of the Autobahn McDonalds. This job was my only source of income. I needed it to pay for my studies. Now I don’t know what my future will be. I was fired by the restaurant manager, my only crime was that I raised my voice against injustice. Therefore, It is my humble request to the McDonalds higher level management and also the Supreme Court of Pakistan that to provide me with justice. Otherwise I will not have any way to continue my education. GHULAM MUSTAFA RUSTAMANI Hyderabad Published in Daily Times, February 15th 2018.
