Twitterati abuzz as #HayaDay2K18 trends

Pakistan’s ‘national psyche’ might be undergoing a radical transformation into the mould of resolving its current issues through systematic changes in structure, shifting debate of conversation, and revisions in the perception of the ruling class.

In the wake of Pakistan Censor Board’s decision of clearing the much controversial film ‘Padmaavat’ without any cuts in the barbaric portrayal of Alauddin Khilji’s character and its ban on the Akshay Kumar starrer ‘Padman’ readily highlighting awareness on menstrual hygiene (being criticised for stacking up “taboo” subjects and “ruining Islamic traditions, history and culture”), recent crusaders of the revolution against love, belonging to a notoriously violent student wing of the Islami Jamiat-e-Talaba, have called on for a walk (i.e. the ‘Haya Walk’) at the Punjab University campus’ Islamic Center all the way to IER area, in order to show their solidarity against the soulful celebration of Valentines Day today, on the 14th of February 2018.

This news breaks headlines amidst calls of state institutions like PEMRA this year, who have barred local electronic media outlets from airing any sort of programming that “promotes western” event Valentine’s Day.

Students of Punjab University are against the valentines day. its against our religion we believe that #Haya_is_Part_of_Iman.14 Feb at 11am from Islamic center to IER we are organizing haya walk come with maximum and permote the culture of haya #Haya_Day_jamiat pic.twitter.com/KvAwDWImu0
