Asma Rani murder case: Police arrest another two suspects

Published on: February 7, 2018 6:05 PM

KOHAT: Inspector-General (IG) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Salahuddin Mehsud on Wednesday said that two more suspects in Asma Rani murder case have been arrested.

Asma Rani, a medical student from Kohat, was shot dead on January 27 by the accused Mujahidullah Afridi for allegedly refusing a marriage proposal.

Addressing a press conference, IG Mehsud said that another two suspects have been arrested in murder case of the victim, while weapons used in the murder have also been recovered.

Last month, the accused’s brother, Sadiqullah Afridi, who accompanied Mujahidullah during the incident was arrested by the police a day after the medical student from Kohat was murdered.

On Saturday, Shahzeb, another aide of Mujahidullah had been taken into police custody for allegedly facilitating the accused’s escape from the country. Police sources said that the arrested aide was thoroughly interrogated which helped the forces locate the evidences.

Mujahidullah Afridi, nephew of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) district president Aftab Alam, fled the country after allegedly committing the murder. His exact location, however, is yet to be known, said the police.
