LAHORE: Jamaat-e-Islami chief Sirajul Haq has said that “corrupt rulers” sitting in the corridors of power were far more dangerous for Pakistan than the militants hiding in the mountains. Speaking at an annual prize distribution ceremony at the Darul Uloom Talimul Quran, Sakha Kot on Monday, the JI chief said, “The corrupt ruling elite had placed the country’s survival at stake by converting the homeland into a colony of the foreign agencies.” The JI chief said, “Enemy of the Ummah is more afraid of Muslim young men, who sport beards, than the atom bombs and tanks.” He said there was a dire need to expose the enemy’s designs, who he said had hell-bent on dividing Muslims on sectarian grounds, and pitting them against each other. He said that Islamabad belongs to the people of Pakistan, and not to the corrupt elite. He added that the country’s judicial and electoral system and institutions did not enjoy confidence of the masses. “In a country where pet horses and dogs of the elite were being fed by jams, while the honour of young girls was put to auction for two time meals, it would be hypocrisy not to revolt against the system,” he said. JI provincial chief Mushtaq Ahmed Khan and other JI leaders were also present on the occasion.
