Team ‘Rangreza’ elated as film’s music nominated for prestigious Lux Style Award

Published on: January 21, 2018 12:01 AM

Musician Qurram Hussain of Josh fame and Indo-Canadian singer Jonita Gandhi have begun the New Year on a good not. Their collaboration for romantic musical film ‘Rangreza’ on the song “Bagiya” have garnered them much critical acclaim.

Though Urwa Hocane and Bilal Ashraf’s film failed to leave much impact on the audience in cinemas, its music truly stood out. Abida Parveen and Asrar’s “Phool Khil Jayen”, “Janasheen” by Qurram Hussain and then the title track “Bagiya”, Rangreza’s music got noticed by all the critics.

Jonita Gandhi has now been nominated in the category of Best Female Singer for the prestigious Lux Style Awards for the song “Bagiya”.

She will give competition to Aima Baig who is nominated for her song “Kaif O Suroor” from ‘Na Maloom Afraad’ and also for “Sadqa” from ‘Chupan Chupai’.

Nirmal Roy has been nominated for “Raunaq-e-Aashiqui” from ‘Punjab Nahi Jaungi’ and Sana Zulfiqar for “Aadat” from ‘Arth – The Destination’.

This is not the first time that Gandhi has sung a track with a Pakistani singer. She earlier, sang the love anthem of the year “Ae dil” from the blockbuster hit ‘Punjab Nahi Jaungi’. However, “Bagiya” seems to

have gotten the most attention. The track is written by Tauqir Bhinder and has been composed by Hussain.

On this nomination, Hussain Tweeted about the music being a melody of souls and knew no boundaries.
