LARKANA: Over 20 streets of various localities of Larkana including Kausar Mill, Haidry Muhalla, Hussain Muhalla and others have submerged into sewerage drain due to non-function of disposal machine since the last week and concerned municipal authorities have done nothing as yet to get it repaired or make it functional to relieve residents of woes and sufferings. The area residents, Junaid Shah, Waheed Abbasi, Muharram Buriro, Hafiz Noor Ahmed Hussaini, Faqeer Khuda Bux Soomro, Imamuddin Khichi and others tried their best to meet deputy commissioner, Larkana on Tuesday in his office but they were told that DC was not available hence they returned empty handed after waiting for five long hours. Then they staged sits-in in front of DC office and Jinnah Bagh roundabout for acceptance of their just demands. While talking to Media they said that residents of these areas have been confined to their homes and they cannot even go out for prayers in mosques as their streets have been filled with arsenic sewage water and overflowing gutters. They said their children cannot even attend to their schools as knee deep sewage water has submerged streets and passing through these streets has become almost impossible. They said that municipal authorities and district administration was treating their localities step-motherly as no development scheme has so far been initiated in any of muhallas which has proved that they have been left at mercy of their creator. They said these localities came within limits of Union Committee 10 and 11 from where deputy mayor, Anwar Luhar and Tarique Mahmood Soomro were elected in local body election but they too have ignored their voters. They demanded of higher authorities to come to their rescue, get disposal machine repaired and start proper development works so that they may also live like human beings.
