LAHORE: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Wednesday condemned the ‘cold-blooded’ murder of Zainab, an eight-year-old girl found murdered after being raped in Ghandra area of Kasur, five days after she had gone missing under mysterious circumstances. “Responding to appeal by the aggrieved parents to COAS, directs immediate all out support to civil administration to arrest the criminals and bringing them to exemplary justice,” the DG ISPR Major General Asif Ghafoor said on Twitter. Protests had erupted throughout the city today and as the protesters broke into various government offices, including Commissioner’s Office, police resorted to firing in order to control the protesters, resulting into killings of two. The family and community took to the streets on Wednesday morning to protest after the horrific incident forcing all markets to shut down. The initial postmortem report of the minor said that she was strangled to death after being raped multiple times. Angry protesters vandalised public property and cars inside the vicinity along with pelting stones at police officers. One person has been killed in the protest, while two people have been reported injured. Protesters are demanding the immediate arrest of the culprits.
