ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal on Friday said that no one can say with certainty that the sitting government will complete its tenure and would remain intact till March, a private TV channel reported. The interior minister said the country was passing through circumstances which were a cause for concern. However, he hoped the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government will be successful in completing its five-year tenure. The interior minister further said that the country’s external front was facing difficulties and in such a situation, anarchy in the country and uncertainty can prove detrimental for Pakistan. He said that the enemies of the country were worried over the success being achieved through the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). Referring to the ongoing political crisis in Balochistan, Ahsan Iqbal said the politics of resignations and sit-ins will weaken the country. The PML-N- led government was shaken recently after the resignation of cabinet members in the Balochistan government. Moreover, Chief Minister Balochistan Sanaullah Zehri also faces a no-confidence motion in the provincial assembly. The statement by Ahsan Iqbal comes amid huge pressure Pakistan is facing on the foreign front following scathing remarks by United States President Donald Trump earlier this week wherein he had said Washington had ‘foolishly’ handed Islamabad more than $33 billion in aid over the last 15 years while getting nothing in return.
