RAWALPINDI: The three-day anti-polio drive in Rawalpindi, Khyber Phuktunkwa, Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) and Balochistan will commence today on Monday, while special security measures have been taken in this regard. The administration took special security measures to ensure that foolproof security is provided to the polio teams, so that anti-polio campaign could be held in a good environment and without amy untoward incident. Around 811,798 children upto the age of five will be administered polio drops under the National Immunisation Day (NID). A special control room has been established to receive complaints from the people and to monitor the progress of the vaccinators. The local government has hired 1,400 officials and constituted 1,800 mobile teams, besides setting up 270 vaccination centres for this campaign. Over 100 polio teams would administer polio vaccination drops to the children at public parks, bus stands, railway station and airport in the district. The KP Health Department has set a target to administer polio drops to over 6 million children below the age of five year during the campaign, said an official on condition of anonymity. Meanwhile over 1million children upto five years of age will be administered anti-polio drops in anti-polio campaigns in 19 districts of Balochistan.
