Jadhav’s family satisfied with the meeting: FO

Published on: December 25, 2017 6:11 PM

LAHORE: Foreign Office (FO) Spokesperson Dr Mohammad Faisal said the meeting of convicted Indian spy Kulbhushan Jadhav with his family was a “gesture of compassion” from Pakistan’s side and it had nothing to do with the “consular access”.

The spokesperson was talking to media after the meeting of Jadhav with his mother and wife in Islamabad on Monday.

Faisal said that the meeting was around 35 minutes long but extended to 40 minutes on Jadhav’s request.

Jadhav’s mother and wife were satisfied with the meeting and they thanked Pakistan, said the spokesperson.

Both the guests came and left in an honourable fashion, Faisal said.

In a video message, the Indian spy also thanked Pakistan for letting him meet his family

Denying the expression that the Indian spy is given a consular access, the spokesperson said the Indian High Commissioner JP Singh was present outside the meeting room and did not hear the conversation.

“Pakistan permitted the Indian request totally on humanitarian grounds in line with Islamic principles and teachings,” he said.

Jadhav, a face of terrorism in Pakistan

The spokesperson also dubbed the Kulbhushan Jadhav as “the face of Indian terrorism in Pakistan”.

Jadhav was involved in terrorist activities in Balochistan, Faisal said.

He went on to say that spy was involved in the attack on Mehran Airbase, the assassination of SSP Chaudhry Aslam and other attacks and bombings in Pakistan.

Jadhav’s mother, wife landed in Pakistan

Earlier, the female family members of the Indian spy landed at Islamabad airport and were received by Pakistan foreign ministry’s officials. They went to Indian High Commissioner’s Officer from the airport and then went to Foreign Office amid high security.

The two women flew to Pakistan via Dubai on Emirates EK612 flight. Avanti Jadhav, Kulbhushan’s mother, was seated at 05B Business Class while his wife Chetankul Jadhav was seated at 05A Business Class.

Commenting on the meeting, Faisal told the media that it was not the last meeting of the Indian spy with his family.
