KHAIRPUR/LARKANA: A four-day anti-polio campaign was launched in 76 UCs of district Khairpur on Monday. According to details, Additional Deputy Commissioner KhairpurUsman Khalid inaugurated the four-day polio campaign at the basic health unit in Sagyoon on Monday. Speaking on the occasion, ADC Usman Khalid said that the campaign would start from April 17 (today). During the campaign, 461000 kids under the age of five across the 76 union councils of the district would be administered anti-polio drops. District Health Officer Khairpur Dr. Nisar Ahmed Phulpoto briefed the ADC about the activities of the anti polio drive in the district. On the occasion, PPHI district manager Bashir Jagirani briefed the ADC about the fact that a solar energy system has been provided in 30 health centers of the district and other centers will also be connected with the energy system very soon. Separately, the District Focal Person for Eradication of Polio, Dr Abdul WahidTagar, said on Monday that a four-day campaign for administering anti-polio drops had started in entire the Larkana district today that will continue till April 20, 2017. He said that during the campaign, a total of 809 teams would administer anti-polio drops to the children. 676 mobile, 82 fixed, and 51 transit teams will cover all areas including bus stands, schools, villages and other areas. He stated that the target during the National Immunization Days (NIDs) for the entire Larkana district is 315,480 children. 46 union councils would be covered in all four talukas of Larkana district. Dr Tagar added that a medical officer had also been posted to look after the campaign in each union council and in this way, 46 doctors would also be performing their duties along with three to four incharges in each union council, who have been taken from the paramedics.
