ISLAMABAD: The ruling Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) government has badly failed to consolidate its financial position as the different ministries had utilised Rs 117 billion subsidy in eight months. According to details, Rs 84.22 billion subsidy had been issued to power distribution companies in first eight months of the current fiscal year, July to February. According to the Finance Ministry documents, the government has allocated Rs 180.55 billion budget in the account of subsidy to the government departments for the current year. It noted that Rs 117.14 billion subsidy was issued to these departments till 28 February. During this duration, PEPCO had been issued Rs 74.43 billion from Rs 90 billion. Nearly, Rs 10.79 billion had been issued to Karachi Electric Supply Company and Rs 6 billion to FATA. The federal government had issued Rs 5 billion to PESCO and Rs 24 billion to Pakistan Railway in this duration. The Finance Ministry had issued Rs 820 million subsidy for the export of sugar and wheat in this duration. The subsidy was reduced to Rs140 billion from Rs 195 billion as compare the last year.
