ISLAMABAD: State Minister for Information Marriyum Aurangzeb has said those who are asking Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to step down after the verdict of the apex court to form a joint investigation team (JIT) to probe corruption allegations against the premier are committing contempt of court. Addressing the opening ceremony of 7th Interiors Pakistan Exhibition here on Friday, the minister said, “Dharna Party is once again demanding the prime minister to resign, as they cannot see Pakistan develop and prosper.” She said that results of Chakwal by-polls – announced four days earlier, was the ample proof of people’s confidence in Nawaz Sharif, and added that people had rejected the demands of PM’s resignation. She said that the prime minister had given details of accounts of three generations in the apex court, and he faced all blames with patience. She said that the apex court had rejected the prayers of the petitioners. Responding to a question, she said that prime minister would also answer all the questions of the JIT. She said the landmark project of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) was a gift to the nation that would usher in a new era of prosperity in the country. She said the world had acknowledged the economic turnaround in the county. The minister said that the government was committed to providing an enabling environment to the industrial sector in the country.
